Document Cameras

Ready to replace your transparency projector? Using a document camera paired with an LCD projector or big TV can do that and more.

A document camera, sometime called an Elmo, can display documents on a screen, including worksheets, papers, and books. The beauty of the device is the versatility, including the ability to zoom in on objects. Tips for using a document camera include:

  • Blow up and trace something by projecting it on a large piece of paper.
  • Use the document camera for more than paper and books—get three-dimensional. Project nutrition labels, animal dissections, or anything you can fit under the camera.
  • Project on a whiteboard and have students complete a worksheet in front of the class.
  • Make it a whole-class game by conducting matching games and more on the big screen.
